vintage stores in london?

i'm going to london in a few days. i've been before, but that was four years ago, and i just went wherever my parents took me. i'm going with them again, which means that seeing museums and famous buildings, all that stuff, are taken care of.
both my mom and i love vintage clothing, thrift stores, the one of a kind sort of hippieish stuff that can also be elegant. you know what i mean. i'm also really into punk, and would love it if some of these vintage stores sold items such as plaid (i think you guys call it tartan, not sure) skinny jeans, and band shirts such as op. ivy.
but anything is good, whether it's flowery dresses from the 60s or combat boots from the 80s, as long as it's not all a huge tourist trap, and as long as all of it's unique and vintage.
so, any stores or marketplaces that sell that kinda stuff in london? and please don't send me to one of those ends of town where you get mugged and beaten up within three minutes (this is advice from my british friends)
oh yeah and i go to an international school, so the english kids who told me this stuff about the 'bad' parts of london are actually from london (so i'm guessing they should know). not just americans with a great-great-great grandfather from england.

So I want to start a online vintage clothing store.?

I'm homeschooled so no one at school cares what I wear...there's a few shops in the OC that I know of..but people in the OC are so shallow...I'm so indie rock. I love finding bargains and love vintage clothing styles. Do any teens shop at thrift stores for vintage clothing?

In the US we hunt for deals in "thrift stores". The best are usually dusty and musty, in so-so neighborhoods and have the BEST prices ever! I want to look for vintage stuff but I don't want to pay vintage boutique prices.

I already have a store selling handmade goods and original artwork. But want to take thing in a new direction, with things a bit more "me" and a bit more fun. I was wondering the right way to approach this, do I shop on a weekly basis for new items to re-sell? Sifting through thrift stores and finding treasures to sell?

I love thrift/antique stores that have vintage clothing but i dont like spending a lot of money. I also love traveling so I would be willing to visit it as long as it is in the United States. Do you find that cities or small towns have better thrift stores?
