Oxfam
Try Carnaby Street
You can buy 50’s on e-bay.
Or you could make them if you just want for a special occasion – circular skirts (made of taffeta), ‘paper’ petticoats starched with sugar water, black ‘v’ – necked, 3/4 sleeved tops. Black ballerinas, waspie belts, pony tail. Stockings with decorative heels and seams.
A circular skirt takes 4 yards of material and you have a six foot hem to stitch! Good thing to do while listening to the wireless! Favourite colour was bright yellow for the taffeta skirt.
I was there!
Portobello market, both stalls and shops have loads of vintage clothing.
